Fluency Locker support
Last updated October 26, 2026
Write to us at [email protected] and tell us what happened. If your question is about a talk, please include the day and the scene.
Which languages can I learn?
Spanish (as it's spoken in Mexico), French, Japanese, Korean, Italian, German, and Mandarin Chinese. If you speak Spanish or Portuguese, you can also learn American English, with the screens and translations in your language.
How do I cancel my subscription?
On your iPhone, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, then Fluency Locker. You can also open it from the App: Settings, then Subscription, then Manage subscription. You keep access until the end of the period you paid for.
I changed phones and my plan is gone
Open the App, tap I already have an account, and sign in with the same Apple Account or email you used before. If the subscription still doesn't show, tap Restore purchases on the plan screen or in Settings, then Subscription, and use the same Apple Account you bought the plan with.
How do I get a refund?
Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple at https://reportaproblem.apple.com.
My apps aren't locking
- Check that Fluency Locker has Screen Time access in your iPhone Settings, under Screen Time.
- Open the App and check Settings, then Locked apps, to see that your apps are still picked.
- The lock works only while your subscription is active.
- Messages, Phone and a few other apps are always allowed by Apple and can't be locked.
I tap the button on a locked app and nothing happens
Tapping Practice to unlock sends a notification from Fluency Locker, and tapping the notification opens your practice. Check that notifications are on for Fluency Locker in your iPhone Settings, under Notifications.
My tutor can't hear me
Check that the microphone is on for Fluency Locker in your iPhone Settings, under Fluency Locker. Talks need an internet connection. If you're somewhere loud, hold your iPhone a little closer. You can always unlock with 10 cards instead.
The phrases don't play out loud
The audio of your course downloads after you choose your language, so connect to the internet once to finish the download. After that, the phrases play when your sound is on or when you use headphones, and with your sound off they show as text. You can also check that Phrase audio is on in Settings.
Why can't I start another talk today?
Each day has a limit of voice talks, shown on the App's home screen. When you've used them, your talks come back the next day, and you can keep practicing and unlocking your apps with cards. A talk that ends before 2 minutes doesn't unlock your apps and doesn't count toward the limit.
What is the emergency pause?
Once a day, you can open your apps for 15 minutes without practicing. Tap Emergency pause at the top of the practice screen.
How do I change my language?
Open Settings, then Language. Your progress in the language you had stays saved, so you can switch back anytime. The audio of the new course downloads the first time you open it.
Can I choose the forms for men or for women?
In some languages, a sentence like "I'm tired" changes for men and women. To choose which form you see, open Settings, then Sentence forms, and pick Forms for men, Forms for women or Both forms. This setting shows only in courses where some sentences change.
How do I delete my account?
In the App: Settings, then Account and privacy, then Delete account. This deletes your account and its data, including your talks and transcripts. It doesn't cancel an App Store subscription, so cancel that first.
Is my tutor a real person?
No, your tutor is an AI. During the voice quiz and your talks, what you say is sent to OpenAI to run the conversation and the transcript. When you repeat phrases for a score, they are sent to Microsoft Azure to score your pronunciation. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle it.
