Terms of Use for Fluency Locker
Last updated October 26, 2026
Using these terms
By using the Fluency Locker app for iPhone (the "App"), you agree to these terms and to Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/). If you do not agree, do not use the App. You must be at least 13 years old, and a parent or guardian must agree for anyone under 18.
What the App is
Fluency Locker helps you learn to speak Spanish (as it's spoken in Mexico), French, Japanese, Korean, Italian, German, or Mandarin Chinese, and it helps Spanish and Portuguese speakers learn to speak American English. It has everyday scenes with phrases, audio, short grammar notes and review cards, and short voice talks with an AI tutor that end with corrections and a pronunciation score. With your permission, it uses Apple's Screen Time to lock the apps you choose until you have a talk or answer a set of cards.
The audio of the phrases, words and grammar notes is made with computer voices. The audio of your course downloads to your iPhone after you choose a language, so that download needs an internet connection. After that, the cards work without one.
The App is for learning a language. It does not give you a certificate or an official level, and the levels in the App (A1, A2 and B1) describe our course, not the result of an official exam.
The AI tutor
The tutor in the voice talks is an AI, not a person. What it says is generated automatically, and it can be wrong, including its corrections, translations and pronunciation scores. Do not rely on it for medical, legal, financial or safety decisions, or in an emergency.
Do not share passwords, card numbers or other private information in your talks. Do not use the talks to create content that is illegal, hateful, sexual or harmful, or to try to make the tutor do so. We may end a talk or limit your access if the talks are used this way.
Voice talks and daily limits
The number of voice talks you can have each day, and how long each talk lasts, are shown in the App. A talk that ends before 2 minutes doesn't unlock your apps and doesn't count toward the daily limit. Talks need an internet connection. We may adjust the limits to keep the service working for everyone, and the App always shows the current ones.
The app lock
You choose the apps to lock in Apple's Screen Time picker, and you can change them in the App's Settings. You can remove the lock at any time by turning off Screen Time access for the App in your iPhone Settings or by deleting the App. Emergency pauses follow the limits shown in the App. The lock works only while your subscription is active, and it turns off when the subscription ends.
The lock depends on Apple's Screen Time, which Apple can change. We do our best to keep it working, but we cannot promise that it will lock or open your apps every time. It is a tool to help you practice and is not a parental control.
Your account
An account is optional. You can create one with Sign in with Apple or with an email and a password, to keep your course, your talks and your streak when you change phones. Keep your password private. You can delete your account at any time in the App: Settings, then Account and privacy, then Delete account.
Subscriptions
- The App's plans are auto-renewable subscriptions sold through Apple's App Store. The price, the length of each period and any introductory offer are shown on the screen before you confirm the purchase.
- There are two levels in the same subscription group: the Voice plan, with the course, the cards and the voice talks, and the Cards plan, with the course and the cards and without voice talks. You can switch between them in the App or in your iPhone Settings.
- Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm. The subscription renews automatically at the same price for the same period unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the current period ends.
- You can manage or cancel the subscription in your iPhone's Settings (your name, then Subscriptions) or in the App (Settings, then Subscription, then Manage subscription). Canceling stops the next renewal; you keep access until the end of the period you paid for.
- A free trial can be used once. If a free trial is part of the offer, any unused part of it ends when you buy a subscription.
- Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple at https://reportaproblem.apple.com.
- Deleting your account does not cancel an App Store subscription. Cancel it first if you want the charges to stop.
Acceptable use
- Do not copy, resell or scrape the App, its course or its audio.
- Do not try to break, overload or get around the security of the App, its limits or our servers.
- Do not use the App to break the law or to harm others.
